Northampton VA Medical Center provides primary, mental health, and long term care to the veteran population of western Massachusetts. The Medical Center has 85 acute and long-term psychiatric beds, and 16 Psychiatric Rehabilitation Residential Treatment Program (PRRTP) beds. Extended care services include a 66-bed Nursing Home Care Unit and Palliative Care Program.
Outpatient Care Services are available through satellite outpatient clinics located at: Greenfield Community Based Outpatient Clinic, Greenfield, MA; Pittsfield Community Based Outpatient Clinic, Pittsfield, MA; and Springfield Community Based Outpatient Clinic, Springfield, MA.
Ancillary Services include dental, radiology, ultrasound, CT, rehabilitative medicine, laboratory, respiratory therapy, pulmonary lab, pharmacy, podiatry, nutrition, speech pathology, orthopedic and ophthalmology clinics.
Mental Health Services provide inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services that include Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), substance abuse, and chronic mental illness. For more information, visit www.ncptsd.va.gov/ptsd101/.
Specialty, Medical and Surgical Services are available through a blend of staff and contractual arrangements that include general medicine, cardiology, neurology, urology, dermatology, surgical clinic, infectious disease and women's health.
Additional Services available include telephone advice, compensated work therapy, transitional living, exercise program, smoking cessation, horticulture therapy, and an extensive network of residential settings from board and care homes to skilled nursing facilities.
The Northampton VAMC is a part of the VA New England Healthcare System (VISN 1 ) which includes facilities in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Vermont.
