The Northampton VA Medical Center VIST Program is designed
to improve quality of life for veterans through the development
and enhancement of skills needed for personal independence,
adjustment, and successful reintegration into the community
and family environment.

Our goals are:

  • To inform veterans and their families about services and benefits
available through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
  • To ensure the provision of health care and rehabilitation training
     to visually impaired veterans.
  • To help the individual & family in adjustment to and management
    of sight loss.

On October 15, 2010 the Northampton VAMC VIST program hosted
a White Cane Information Fair. This event provided information
about blindness/low vision, local services, special equipment for
the visually impaired, and VA services.  Participants included local
non-profit agencies, service organizations, veterans and VA services.
